Privacy Policy
Wikivalue has a very simple, very open privacy policy. The only information we keep about you is information you volunteer. Here is what we know, why we know it and what we do with it;
E-mail Address
Your e-mail address is recorded upon registration for the following reasons:
- To help cut down on spam and bots (bad robots) entering the system. If we suspect that your intentions are bad, we mail send you an e-mail to confirm you have registered for legitimate purposes.
- Help you recover a lost/forgotten password. These can be e-mailed to you upon request.
- Reach you in case of an unlikely system catastrophe or to resolve any complaints about you from other users.
Your e-mail address is not sold or given to anybody else for any reason. OK, maybe the government could legally pry it out of us. Your e-mail does not automatically post to any page on WikiValue and is not tied into your Profile Page or Private Message page. If you want your e-mail address published anywhere on WikiValue you can do that by yourself at your own risk.
Your Login
We remember the last time you logged in for two reasons:
-
Every once in a while we will clear out inactive users to free up system resources.
-
You last login date is shown to anybody sending you a Private Message.
Your Activities
WikiValue does not track your viewing habits in any way. The pages and comments you create and edit are public record of course and like any good wiki, a history of changes to the site are available to all to help maintain the integrity of the site. Your volume of contribution, but not your content, it recorded in a certain fashion to allow avid contributors to the site a certain advantage in matters to be determined by the site administrators.
Security
WikiValue is designed such that your Personal Messages and your Profile Page, when marked as hidden, are not viewable by other users. Understand that any system may be vulnerable to a cyber attack and could be compromised by somebody with enough time and skill. These are not places for your sensitive personal or financial information.
