1. Play Nice
WikiValue is a community effort to provide useful information to everybody in the group. Constructive criticism of input is encouraged, trashing other contributors is not. Disagreements will arise and different opinions are to be expected. Writers who can't cooperate or coexist with the group will be escorted to the door.
2. Taboo items and issues
Off limit items and ideas should be pretty obvious and the following are examples but by no means an all inclusive list;
- Pornography
- Recreational Drug Use
- Extremely Dangerous
- Racist or other mean spirited
- Illegal
Many things are open to interpretation and the decision of the Moderators is final.
3. Copyrights
You can retain a copyright on anything you post to WikiValue, but all content on this site, like many wiki's, is covered by the Creative Commons License. This was part of the Terms Of Use you agreed to when registering on this site. This means that your original work posted here is allowed to be freely distributed by others for Non-Commercial purposes.
The posting of copyrighted material of any kind without the author's permission is strictly prohibited.
4. Usernames
If you register with an inappropriate username your account will be deleted and you will need to start from scratch. This too should be obvious (nothing dirty, inflammatory, deceitful, etc.) and again the Moderators will have the final say.
It is OK to have more than one account if you feel a need to separate specific interests, but multiple accounts for malicious purposes is prohibited. You cannot try to control discussions or inflate/deflate WikiValue averages by using multiple accounts. Any user using multple accounts to circumvent policies or scrutiny will have all associated accounts deleted.
5. Commercial Use and Abuse
Linking in and out of WikiValue is an important and useful activity. Since you cannot publish unauthorized copyrighted material, the best way to provide additional data to an item description, or back up statements in comments, may be to link to an external web site. These links are the heart and soul of the internet. They are also one of the main tools of abuse by scammers, spammers and the get rich quick crowd.
Links placed on WikiValue for the sole purpose of driving traffic elsewhere is strictly prohibited. If the link has no relevance in helping the reader determine the WikiValue of something, it may be deleted. Continued or gross violation of this policy will be cause for account deletion.
6. Attachments
WikiValue will try to maintain a very open and liberal policy towards attachments. The vast majority of attachments should be small (under 200 KB) graphic files (jpg. gif, png). Other file formats, such as pdf or doc cannot be displayed on the WikiValue page itself, but could in very rare cases provide useful information to the subject at hand. Executable files are strictly prohibitted.
Be very careful of copyright infringement. Video files should be avoided. If they truly help the cause consider linking to an external source such as YouTube.
